Introduction"Stiff of the Week" started back in the early 90's when I owned a small baseball card store in the sleepy ocean town of Hingham - about 15 miles south of Boston. In a moment of brilliance I named it... Hingham Baseball Cards.

In the window I had the standard OPEN sign and shop advertisements but what made me stand out was my "Stiff of the Week" sign. That and the fact that I wasn't selling antiques or old lady perfume like every other typical South Shore mom and pop store.

The most common stiff of the week was Jim Rice - followed by Rich Gedman. Gedman made Veritek look like Piazza - and these were the .230 BA twilight years of an otherwise hall of fame career for Rice.

The rules were simple, if you pulled the stiff of the week from a pack of cards - you got a free pack.

So 15+ years later my son (who helped me @ the store as a young kid) set up this blog for me so I can rant and rave about all the overpaid sallies who can't hit a beach ball out of the batters box - while still getting paid 15 million dollars a year.

And for all you "loyal" fans out there - don't be mad when I bash your favorite player. The STATS DON'T LIE.
