| Interests | Storytelling has moved me as a human being since I can recall sounds and events. It is difficult for me to separate art, especially the written and spoken word, from the very experience of living. As an artist, I am a storyteller. As a storyteller, I am human. What moves me as a writer is the same that moves me as a reader: the telling of anecdote, showing a world through words that reflects upon our nature as beings. Aesthetically I pursue concision and effect, hoping that the weight of the images and stories will carry the reader. I see creation as a synthesizing system in which my worldview is condensed and converted into the lens from which I tell stories. Poetry is a genre for which I feel a lot of respect. It has become a “room” in my creation, which I inhabit when the emotions of whatever force moves me to create are too raw for other aesthetics, and even in a poem, I am always telling a story. |
