Introduction I'm a freelance journalist and book critic. (Anton Ego aside, there are no palatial digs or butlers for most of us critics. My elderly beagle, however, will be very happy to see you should you visit.) For four years, I've been the main fiction reviewer for The Christian Science Monitor, a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper. I also write features and news for the Monitor and other publications.

Favorite Movies Anything by Hayao Miyazaki, Pixar, or Brad Bird. Wallace & Gromit, Muppets. Screwball comedies from the 1930s.
Favorite Music Allison Krauss, Mary Chapin Carpenter, the Kinks, Aimee Mann, huge fondness for the 80s.
Favorite Books Too many to name ... or the next one on the pile. Growing up, the ones I most reread include The Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander, Harriet the Spy, The Blue Sword and the Hero and the Crown, Little Women, Jane Eyre, Jane Austen, and The Secret Garden.
