Introduction I am 60 years old, Married and have two sons. I joined Rye Harbour Lifeboat Station as a crew member in 1968 aged 20. I progressed to become a helmsman, and in 1986 took up the position of Hon.Sec. During my time as Hon.Sec. I have had three Lifeboats, a 'C' class, an Atlantic 21 and the present Lifeboat an Atlantic 75 B-727 'Commander and Mrs Rodney Wells'. I have had two new Boathouses the first to replace the 'Harden Hut' and the second to accommodate the Atlantic class boats. Fortunately the present boathouse will accept the next class of lifeboat due to arrive in 2010. In January of 2007 I was very proud to be awarded the RNLI's Gold Badge in recognition of valuable support of the lifeboat service. Throughout my years with the Lifeboat I have been lucky to have the generous support of my long suffering wife to keep me on the straight and narrow. A couple of years ago the title of Hon.Sec. was abolished. I am now a LOM, Lifeboat Operations Manager.
