| Introduction | Anisha Shekhar Mukherji grew up in cantonments across India and finished her schooling at Loreto Convent and DPS R.K.Puram. An architect specialising in conservation, she is an alumna of School of Planning and Architecture Delhi, and an ODA Scholar from De Montfort University, U.K. Her work as an architectural historian, designer, author and public speaker, and Founding Director at Ambi Knowledge Resources, positions her at the confluence of design, literature, and history. She has been conservation consultant to The World Bank, ASI, Doon School, Park Hotels Apeejay Pvt Ltd. As Visiting Faculty at SPA Delhi since 18 years, she guides students in critical enquiry, crafts, history and design thinking. She is the author of several significant books: The Red Fort of Shahjahanabad OUP 2003; Jantar Mantar, Ambi 2010; Attributing Design Identity; Identifying Design Attributes, Ambi 2020; Tenida and Friends (2018), Renewing Design with Communities, Routledge 2023 co-edited with Snehanshu Mukherjee.
