| Introduction | I first became interested in cinema when I saw David Lynch's Eraserhead when I was 15. My attraction to this film was purely the VHS cover; Jack Nance's haunting face lured me into a world of nightmares and imagery I had never seen before, but I knew I was hooked. Even now the image is one that has the same power when I saw it for this first time. Eraserhead could also be the reason why I am particularly interested in cinema sound and the power of the soundtrack. My study of cinema began at college and bloomed fully when I went to university when I learned to dissect the image and the text and to explore cinema fully so that a wider opinion can be made clear. My writing style ranges from opinionated reviews to essay-based dissections of cinema and philosophical based experiences shaped by phenomenological theories. James Walkerdine loathes the 'out-of-ten' or 'star-based' reviews and will never write them.
