| Introduction | Jal Mehta completed his Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Policy at Harvard University in 2006. His dissertation was on the political forces driving changes in American education policy over the last 25 years. He has published on a variety of education-related topics, including school violence, stereotype threat, and the achievement gap. The book he co-authored with Katherine Newman, Rampage: the Social Roots of School Shootings was a finalist for the C. Wright Mills award. As a postdoctoral fellow at HGSE he is working on a book, drawing on his dissertation, on the politics of school reform from the Progressive Era to the present. |
