| Introduction | Why make Relish ?, the simple reason was because we had to make ends meet - Back in the day Mark and I were happily running a small but very busy cafe in Hawkshead , along came the dreaded 2001 Foot & Mouth outbreak, the public were advised to avoid the countryside and they took heed, not a customer was to be seen - now cue the sad violins in the background....hear them? Well with two small children a scary mortgage and no income it was desperate, we sank a few bottles of wine and came up with a solution that we thought would help us get through the next few weeks. Little did we know that 10 years on we would be selling to over 400 shops and stores in the UK and export to over 20 countries across the globe! But as anyone reading this will know that there has to be a huge amount of hard work, blood, sweat and plenty of tears along the way, but was it worth it - yes of course it was and is, we love what we do, we now are in a position to help others and have a sustainable rural business employing local people and supporting OUR local economy -what else could be possibly wish for in life. |
