IntroductionI am an ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) survivor, esophageal cancer survivor, kidney cancer survivor, bladder cancer survivor, coronary artery disease survivor, pulmonary embolism survivor, cardiac arrest(x2) survivor, & ruptured appendix survivor.... I have 3 coronary artery stents, a pacemaker, a tracheotomy, and some brain/nerve damage. I have had my esophagus removed (cancer), my left kidney removed (cancer), lymph nodes removed, my (ruptured) appendix removed, angioplasty(x2), angina, alopecia areata, pleurisy, psoriasis, vitiligo, and dandruff. Oh yeah, I also spent 5 1/2 weeks in a coma, have 38 percent lung function, and I am dependant on mechanically produced pure oxygen 24 hours a day. I spent 5 months in a St Louis intensive care unit, and more than 1 YEAR total in the hospital. I am very happy to be alive. I had no real health problems until I turned 40, then BAM. Now when I take my shirt off I look like a baseball. I am hard (but not impossible) to kill. Believe it or not, I'm single. I don't need pity or money. I don't mind if you want to complain, but I think I'll just be thankful.
