| Introduction | The Fertility Awareness Center (FAC) was founded around 1981. The primary function of the FAC is to provide instruction in Fertility Awareness, and to educate the public about the benefits of Fertility Awareness. We offer group workshops, private consultations, and lectures. Fertility Awareness (FA) is a system by which a woman can know on what days of her cycle she is fertile. She can use this information to prevent pregnancy, to achieve it, to gain insight into her health, and to be empowered around her sexuality and reproductive health. Contrary to popular belief, Fertility Awareness is NOT the Rhythm Method! FA involves observation of the physical symptoms of fertility, ie the basal body temperature, the cervical mucus, and the position of the cervix itself. Numerous scientific studies have demonstrated that it is a safe and effective method of contraception, and also enables couples to shorten the time to conception when pregnancy is desired. FA also provides deep insight into a woman’s cycles & reproductive health. We believe that every woman should have this knowledge.
