| Introduction | A person can appreciate the quality and types of joins and joists in a framed house without understanding how the structure hangs together to distribute the load. Grasping the meaning of scripture is similarly more than knowing the definition of words, tracing themes and symbols, and having some historical background. Such knowledge may shed light on how some things fit together, but that alone is insufficient to bring us to a knowledge of the heart of God, who nevertheless reveals himself to any who humble themselves to seek him that they might serve him. |
