IntroductionAnn-Alise Keeping was born in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. She recently moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, in order to further her education in ceramics. She is currently a student at The Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and will be graduating in the fall of 2013 with a BFA major in Ceramics. She has shown her artwork, for the past four years, at the Nanaimo Art Gallery in the annual Progressions Student Art Exhibition at Vancouver Island University. Her work has also been shown at the VIU and NSCAD winter Student Art Show and Sales and at the Vancouver One of a Kind Show in 2011. She received the Printmaking award in 2010 from the VIU Art and Design club as well as the Jackson Hirota Award for Excellence in Ceramics in 2012. As an emerging artist, Ann-Alise focuses primarily in the discipline wheel thrown ceramics. Her passion in art lies within her desire to create works that are beyond her own expectations for what she can make. She uses her art to express herself as well as to prove to herself that she is capable of being an artist who isn’t easily overlooked. The word “ambitious” is frequently used to describe the future endeavours in her art.
