| Introduction | This may be a combination diary/journal and (eventually) a blog. Having finally been diagnosed with SLE to go along with my other chronic illnesses (COPD, Type 2 Diabetes, Hypothyroidism, Degenerative Disk Disease, IBS, Fibromyalgia/CFS, RLS, RA, Osteoporosis, and more) I have to wonder how many of these illnesses are actually manifestations of the Lupus, which I've had signs/symptoms of for nearly two decades but wasn't diagnosed with until this last May, ironically during 'Lupus Awareness Month'. It's been my habit to research my illnesses and medications, to try to make sense of the information and find anything that might help ease the conditions. What I've found are some wonderful blogs by others with Lupus and coexisting illnesses. They, the authors, have shed much light on this illness and shown me that I'm not alone...we're not alone, in our struggle to deal with this. I hope to share links to some of these helpful blogs for others trying to find their way through this maze that is Lupus. I don't want Lupus to define who I am, but knowledge is power and Lupies need all the power we can get. |
