| Introduction | In the summer of 2005 I weighed in at 292 lbs (topped out at 301 about a year before that - no need to explain how exactly that happened, but let's say it had to do with moving too little and eating too much). That summer I climbed Pikes Peak - in 8.5 hours. When I exhaustingly reached the summit I told my wife right there that I was going to compete in the Pikes Peak Ascent the following year and finish before the cutoff time (6.5 hours). My training started the following Monday. Since then I have completed two Pikes Peak Ascents, and number of smaller races ranging from 5k's to 12 mile mountain races and on 5/18/08 my first marathon. I got as low as 238 in the summer of '07 but climbed back up later that fall (I'll blame this one on child #3 and a new job). I'm back on the wagon...let's see how this goes!!! |
