About me

Gender Female
Occupation retired editor
Location Dublin, California, United States
Introduction I'm an old lady, a retired editor, widowed, with two grown children. If family history is any guide, I should live into my late 80s or early 90s, so I'm doing everything I can to enjoy the time I have left. I bought a new car—my dream car, a red PT Cruiser. I collect movie musicals on video and DVDs, I'm teaching myself to play the tenor banjo, and I manage a web site of current obituaries of interesting people, not just celebrities. I've been using a Mac exclusively since 1990, been online since '97, and it's a lot more fun than housework. When I finally go, they're going to have to pry my cold dead fingers off the keyboard. No offense, but I think all religions are happy horse manure. Politically, I'm a moderate Libertarian. I am pro-choice and support stem cell research, but I don't trust Democrats. Or maybe Republicans are just better liars.
Interests Mac, necrology, Broadway musicals, tenor banjo, 19-20th century American history, cats, tap dancing
Favorite Movies Musicals, especially those great MGM musicals from the '40s and '50s.
Favorite Music Classical, Broadway show tunes, ragtime, dixieland, 4-string banjo, old standards from the '20s and '30s, some disco, some country, some opera. I have it all on my iPod.
Favorite Books I'm ashamed to say I haven't read many books since I discovered Mac. I guess my all-time favorite, for sheer writing genius, is To Kill a Mockingbird. The tea party scene, not depicted in the movie, is a masterpiece of literary creation.
