Introduction Donna Barrere was raised in Slidell, Louisiana, where she began making art at an early age. She studied Art Education at Southeastern Louisiana with an emphasis on studio art, especially painting and printmaking. After graduation she moved to Bogalusa, LA where she taught art to upper elementary students and continued to make and show new artwork. In 2006 Donna moved to Natchitoches, LA to pursue further art study. She obtained a master’s degree at Northwestern State University of Louisiana with an emphasis in painting. Her thesis project, Identity Revealed: Self-portraits, Identity and Actualization, was a thesis and exhibit of 23 self-portraits rooted in the artist's long-term exploration of the self and self-portraits. After a short residence in Lafayette, Louisiana, Donna moved to Baton Rouge, where she is currently developing a new body of work focusing on her roots in the natural and cultural landscape of Louisiana.
