| Introduction | Dorothy Darker is a pop culture critic and carouser who lives in Silver Lake, where she parties to excess and is frequently hung over. On days when she can find her shoes and an aspirin, she will post something, most likely about movies, concerts, opening nights, film festivals, televisions shows, and whatever is going on. She is a disciple of the style of the late critic Dorothy Parker, who reviewed mostly plays and books some 90 years ago in New York. This being present-day Los Angeles, her column leans a very different way. But from time to time this blog will include an excerpt from Mrs. Parker’s work in The New Yorker, just to show just how fine it was, and how entertaining it remains. |
