| Introduction | I’m LenoreC, retired after a long career, first as a technical writer (tens of thousands of pages of instruction manuals), then as a copywriter for the human resources community, specializing in information technology and health care. I believe that every subject contains something of interest, and writing is a great way to learn about it. I have a master’s degree in geography, the science that wants to know where things are, why they are there, and what happens because they are there. That background informs virtually every aspect of my life, from making decisions about recycling to evaluating an aviation weather forecast. I’m strongly inclined toward environmentalism, particularly when it comes to minimizing waste and keeping things out of the landfill. (My parents knew the Great Depression at first-hand, so I grew up in an atmosphere of reduce/reuse/recycle long before that phrase became a buzzword.) I love libraries, both because I love reading and because they offer all the wealth of our civilization to everyone who cares to use them. I’m passionate about education — it’s the basis for an informed citizenry and a sound economy. |
