Introduction My life turned upside down two years ago when my husband of 35 years passed away after a year of battling cancer. We had lived, worked, and raised a family in Indonesia and Russia for 25 years. I had taught pedagogy, business English, and EFL at the Russian-American Institute in Moscow. Then in 2008 I moved to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan and worked as an English Language Fellow until 2009, teaching Business English to post-grad students and entrepreneurs. Joining the American English Institute faculty in January of 2010, a month after my husband's death, has been challenging and healing all at the same time. My days are filled with terrific colleagues and students from all over the world. When I'm not working, I take turns visiting my four grown children and their families, including 6 grandchildren. They live around the country in Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma, and Georgia. In my spare time, I love to hike, camp, and bike. Last summer I took a solo trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, and Grand Canyon. My personal challenge was to hike 30 miles in 3 days to view the Havasu and Mooney Falls in Arizona, and I returned to AEI refreshed and ready to go.
