About me

IntroductionI graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in December 2008 with a Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies. I am certified by the State of Texas to teacher Early Childhood – 4th grade and English as a Second Language. Shortly after graduation, I found my home here at Fisher Elementary. I taught Kindergarten the spring of 2009 and this will be my 3rd year to teach 1st grade at Fisher! I look forward to this year of learning. I am a firm believer that children learn best by doing. As a person with dyslexia, I experienced firsthand what happens when students are just told the knowledge they need to succeed in life. This is why I put all of myself into finding the best way to help your child participate in each minute of their journey to success. Our classroom environment is one that will help your child build a love for learning, autonomy so your child is self motivated, openness so your child can work well with others and problem-solving to benefit your child for the future. With these goals in mind I look forward to this exciting journey to success.
InterestsI enjoy reading a good book. My favorite color is purple. My husband, Dwayne, and I love our Yorkie-Poo, Oliver. On the weekends you might find me hanging out with our family and friends, trying to prefect my cooking skills, sewing, or relaxing (when I get a chance).
