Introduction Alonzo L. Gaskill was reared near Independence, Missouri, where he converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in November 1984. Prior to his conversion, he was a practicing Greek Orthodox. One year after his baptism, he served a full-time mission in England. Professionally, Alonzo L. Gaskill taught seminary for four years in southeastern Idaho, after which he was an Institute Director at Stanford University and at UC Berkeley. He is currently an Associate Professor of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University, where his primary teaching focus is world religions, and Christian history. He is the author of numerous articles and books. He and his wife, Lori, are the parents of five children and reside in Payson, Utah.
