| Introduction | I am a "career student." When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I never really knew because so many things fascinated me. I simply loved school. I loved the teachers, the books, the pens, the folders, the desk, the boards, even the chalk. I loved all of it. In high school, I was baffled about why a student would want to skip school. I used to think, "What else could you want to do but come to school." Yes, my mind really worked like that. Those were my innermost, deepest thoughts. So, I get to college and feel in love again. 24 hour libraries excited me! The lectures, the classes, the exhibits all intrigued me. I thought I hit the lotto: There I was, on a full scholarship and my only "job" was to be a student, to learn. Unlike others, I knew college was the life and I took full advantage of it. I ended up majoring in Sociology (and Politics which I didn't enjoy) because I fell in love with the subject. I could do it all in Sociology-study people, statistics, social issues, and the entire social world! So, I went on to get a Masters and PhD in Sociology and after all of that work, I am still in love! I also love Yoga. |
