| Introduction | I'm a white woman seeking to confront whiteness. Things to know about me: 1. I don't pretend not to be complicit in this institution. I'm working on interrogating my whiteness and please feel free to call me out when I'm doing a poor job of it. 2. Anything I've learned about racism I've learned from people of color or white folks who have been at this longer than I have and who have learned from people of color. 3. My anti-racism isn't an act of hatred for white people. It's an act of love for white people, in that only by dismantling our racism can we realize the empathy, compassion and humanity which our racism robs us of. |
