| Introduction | Life is the most incredible gift each of us has been given. It is my hope to continue my life towards enhancing the lives of others through public health care and wellness promotion. I am currently majoring in Public Health with a possible minor in psychology or cultural anthropology. My "dream" career would involve traveling internationally, living among the native peoples (yes, even if that meant on the floor), and finding solutions to local health care issues while simultaneously experiencing the influences of their culture on their lifestyles. People are absolutely fascinating to me. I find the most pleasure in observing and being there for others whether that means actively volunteering or simply listening to what they have to say. We all have two ears and one mouth for a reason, and too often I think people "hear" another without truly listening. Why not give a little more attention to someone else; actively observing the intricate dance of their words and posture? Who knows if that extra moment of caring will shape the remainder of their day or life. The goal in life is learning. The challenge is what we do with that knowledge. |
| Interests | You. More specifically what has made you "you." The influence of culture and creativity in shaping our brains and the resulting social interaction has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. From showing & telling in first grade of my father's plastic brain model to extended dinner-side discussions of current psychology issues and studies, neuroscience has been my continued passion. In addition, I enjoy running, reading, listening, and most of all volunteering. As long as I have the abilities to encourage growth and wellness in the lives of others, I will forever seek to pay it forward. It is imperative each of us use our abilities to foster those in need and help them enhance their own lives. If the able are unwilling, humanity is forgotten. |
