About me

GenderFemale
LocationBrownsville, Texas, United States
IntroductionI am the first in my family to be born in the United States. The rest of my family is from Mexico but naturalized and professionals. I have a sister who is a CPA, another who is a nurse, two brothers who are talented construction workers(these guys can build a house from the foundation up and one is actually re doing my guest bathroom-I will post the pics when he is done) and I have another brother who is a teacher. I have a great husband who is more than a husband to me. He is my best friend and he accepts me just the way I am and that is hard to do sometimes.
Interestswatching foreign and independent film, working on home improvements with my husband, bike riding, gardening.
Favorite moviesEven though it is about as smarmy and cornball as you can get, I loved "Somewhere in Time". However, I also like: 1. Forgetting Sarah Marshall" 2. "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People" 3. "Knocked up" 4. Pineapple Express 5. Wrist Cutters Call me immature but I have too much drama in my life to watch drama on the screen.
Favorite musicIt depends on my mood. My musical tastes are all over the place! Right now I am really into Colton Ford. Then I also like the All American Rejects, Panic on the Dancefloor, Miguel Bose, Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliot, Pedro Infante, Josephine Baker, Billy Joel and the list goes on.
Favorite booksThere are so many. Some that stand out for me are How did you get to be Mexican? by Kevin Johnson. He is a law professor from UC Davis. It is a coming of age story but it also deals with issues that affect people who belong to certain minority cultures and the things they must face while going through the assimilation process. Dennis Baron, a University of Illinois linguistics professor, has several books of interest. One in particular is "The English Only Question". It deals with this desire to make English the official Language in the US, which is really pointless if you think about it. The only reason for something like this is to make certain people feel as though something is being done about the LEP community. It isn't going to make LEPs speak English any faster but it does marginalize them even further to the point of being so defiant they don't want to learn English and adapt to the culture. The other is "Get in the Van" by Henry Rollins. It deals with the trials and tribulations of being on the outside looking in.

When you open your eyes underwater, do you ever worry that you'll drown?

No. I worry about debris & bacteria. I took a sailing course and our class was a resaca. If you sail, you get wet. By the end of summer, my shoes had holes. Drowning isn't my fear. It is what hitches a ride on you when you get out of the water. I become Howard Hughes without the massive fortune!!
