Introduction The Phalaope is a migratory wader. This species is unusual in that the female is more colourful than the male, and she leaves the male to incubate the eggs and bring up the young. The Phalarope feeds by swimming round in circles. Birds that turn up in the UK are usually found at the coast and occasionally at inland wetlands. They've been blown off-course by bad weather and strong winds. I seem to have a fair amount in common with the Phalarope. Like the phalarope I frequently feel that I'm going round in circles, although not whilst eating! I'm unusual; too; I like to be different, and I enjoy the freedom of the outdoors. I'd been blown off course but am working on getting straight. I'd fetched up on the south coast away from friends and family, but am now happily relocated to West Yorkshire and have met and married Andrew, the man I love and will spend the rest of my life with. I just need to sort out my career.....
