| Introduction | Kurt Hollander was the founder, publisher and editor of The Portable Lower East Side from its birth in 1983 to its demise in 1994. Originally from New York City, Kurt lived in Mexico City for over 20 years (where he was the editor of Poliester, a magazine of contemporary art in the Americas), and currently lives in Cali, Colombia.
