My blogs
| Introduction | I was diagnosed with MDS in 2000 and underwent a BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) in 2001. My twin brother David was my donor. In 2004 a BMB (bone marrow biopsy) showed signs that the disease/chromosome disorder was still there. My medical team at Stanford told me then that the disease may well remain "indolent" for a few years but to expect a sudden uptake sometime during that time and when it does to be ready for a second transplant. It is now six years later and my very lazy disease has only recently got moving. My hope for a cure is another BMT and I am lucky enough to have one other sibling who is also a match. SO the marble has begun to roll and Grant is here and we are ready to go into attack mode. |
