| Interests | Hi, this is Dr Vaishali Deshmukh. Basically a paediatrician, I have done postgraduate course in Adolescent Medicine and have completed the National Training Programme on ‘Adolescent Friendly Health Services’ at New Delhi and Sweden. I am In-Charge of ‘Nine-to-Nineteen Clinic’- a special clinic for adolescents, i.e. children between 10 and 19 years in Deenanth Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune, Maharashtra. Apart from conducting many workshops for adolescents and their parents, I conduct regular sessions in various reputed schools in Pune. I have given talks on radio and television and have written and been quoted in various newspapers including Sakal, Saptahik Sakal, Tanishka, Loksatta, Maharashtra Times, Indian Express and Lokmat. I ran a weekly column in Viva, Loksatta for two years, a weekly column in Maharashtra Times for one year and a biweekly column, 'Palak katta' in Saptarang Sakal. I am involved with research in Adolescent issues such as body image and growing up changes. I am a PG guide for DNB family medicine, master trainer for various adolescent modules of Indian Academy of Paediatrics and have been a faculty in many local, national and international conferences. I also run a Teen club named Udaan for adolescents which is an informal platform for them to discuss various issues and express themselves. My Marathi book for adolescents 'Teenage Dot Com' is published by Rajhans prakashan and is in it's second edition. |
