| Introduction | The Mexia Public Library was founded in 1903 by the Women's Friday Club. In 1949, with a generous donation from Jasper & Mary Gibbs Jones, the library was moved to the present location, which was previously the Gibbs family homestead. The current building was built in the mid 1970s and has been remodeled several times. Presently the library has twelve public access computers, free Wifi, a genealogy department, audiobooks, and DVDs. Gibbs Memorial Library's staff of two full time and three part time employees serves a population area of 13,382. |
