About me

Introduction	I was born in San Diego, California. We left when I was five years old to move to my mother's hometown of Chicago, and that's where I grew up, and I consider it my hometown. I have wanted to be a writer as long as I've known how to write. I started out wanting to write fiction, and wrote my first story when I was six. I also drew the pictures to illustrate it, but it quickly became apparent that was not my forte. When I was in high school, I found that poetry was exciting. It was a real trip to put together words in strange and interesting patterns that didn't necessarily make sense, but had power nonetheless. They made interesting images in the mind! In college, I met other people who had an affinity for this and decided to make it the center of my studies. The motto on my Facebook page is "likes to play" and that describes very accurately my own education.
