| Introduction | New Directions "I want to travel as far as I can go and reach the joy that's in my soul, and change the limitations that I know, and feel my mind and spirit grow: I want to live, exist, to be, and hear the truths inside of me." By Doris Warshay |
| Interests | I am currently working as a teacher of Art and Design for Saba Verda International School, Vinallop, Spain. I began my teaching career in Amman, Jordan in the eighties. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, I took a job as a teacher assistant at Aycock Middle School with the EAL program. In 1994 I returned to university to complete post-graduate certificates in EAL and Art Education. For about twenty years my life was dedicated to my family of four, immigrants, migrants, and refugees. I was one of the founding members of a special public school for refugees and immigrants called the Newcomers School. It was one of the proudest moments of my career. After a bit, I decide to try my hand at university once again. Although I enjoyed working my community I wanted to learn more about teaching and education, I felt something was missing and began pursuing my love of art education and returned to university. I earned a M.Ed. in Education at Indiana University Bloomington. After our two sons, Zacharia and Tarek grew up we decided to return to international teaching and I took a job teaching in southern China in a small fishing village near Hong Kong. I worked for there for three years as the AP studio art teacher. I have also guided students through IBDP, IGCSE, and portfolio development. |
