| Introduction | This educational blog is dedicated to my father, Lt. Col. Edward Bender (retired), who flew "between the clouds" as a WWII B-17 pilot, and was a POW during the last year of the war. The blog focuses on the WWII POW experience at Stalag Luft III in what is now Zagan, Poland, as well as the POW's experiences during a forced Winter march in 1945 and their subsequent internment in other POW camps in Germany. |
