| Introduction | My husband and I are foreigners. Foreigners to our birth countries, foreigners to our families and sometimes, foreigners to ourselves. We are also chameleons, ever changing, ever growing, ever adapting and in doing so, we hope to enrich our lives with a heritage of experiences, culture and faith. I write this blog for my son, James. I’m writing in hope that James will at some point get an essence of who we are, who he is and what our family is about. Somewhere intertwined with our melodramatic life is a permanent underlying essence that makes us who we are, and our family what it is. I hope James, you will be able to pick out those bits from amongst your mother’s scattered thoughts and piece them all together and finally figure out how you’ve become who you are.. and why your parents are permanently irreversibly insane. |
