| Introduction | After four years as a staff writer for several weekly newspapers in Baltimore County, I'm now attending the Master of Science Writing program at Johns Hopkins University. I graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2001 with a B.A. in English and a creative writing emphasis. I bounced around a bit, and then settled in Baltimore, Maryland. I enjoy Charm City, but I also look forward to wherever I land next. In my free time, I read, draw, and write fiction. Conversation, however, is my most compulsive and enjoyable hobby. I created this blog because there are topics or thoughts that don’t quite belong in my newspaper writing or in my fiction, but it's become more of a venue to explore thoughts and improve my writing. Or has it become something else? Let's try it instead with a metaphor: I love to drive, but I spend most of my road-time on congested byways, unable to let loose and just go. So, when I have time, I steal away to the open road, alone on the asphalt, to drive for fun, to remember why I love it. For, if I ever forget why I love to be behind the wheel, I'll stop driving. |
