| Introduction | As a kid, planes never interested me. I started work for an aircraft company in my early 20s & then they grew on me. In my 30s, I was given a birthday present of a helicopter flight over Hollywood. I got the BUG! I took a helicopter intro flight. After research, people told me to learn fixed wing first then transition to helos, it'll be less expensive. I started lessons in 1995 at Van Nuys airport (VNY), CA, home to the busiest GA airport in the world! I was flying as often as finances would allow. Things going well, life got in the way & I took a 12 year hiatus. While in a store, I noticed a POH on a clerk's desk. My wife asked if I was still interested in flying. I said YES! I told her not to encourage me or else! 1 year later, I started lessons, again. Fast forward, today I have my ticket, 10/15/10. What a joy & relief. Took a long time. During training, I was looking for planes to own & came upon VAF! What a great site. It started me researching kit planes. I settled on a Van's. I've been vacillating between a -7 & -10 awhile. I really like the -7 but the -10 would be good for more weight carrying. I'm 90% set on the -7. |
