Introduction This is the blog of the Australian Society for Indigenous Astronomy.

The study of Australian cultural astronomy investigates how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people used the sun, moon, and stars for practical and social purposes. Our rigorous research explores how astronomical knowledge and traditions are developed and how the stars influence the culture, heritage, and spirituality of Indigenous Australians. We work closely with Indigenous elders and communities.

Our research is dedicated to the hundreds of thousands of Indigenous Australians who lost their lives and culture after British colonisation. We acknowledge the Indigenous elders and custodians, both past and present.

It is intended for educators, researchers, and the general public. We do not generate any form of revenue from this blog.
