Sponges and tongues are frequently misspelled. Is it because both are thirsty?
I blame the popularity of the "spell check" function included on most computer applications and programs. People are lazy so they have no grasp of common grammar. Same rules apply to the heavy use of the calculator, which I blame for my inability to calculate the tip when dining out.
