| Introduction | My background is in neural development, parks and recreation, and child development. I currently serve as Director, Head Start Body Start National Center for Physical Development and Outdoor Play. This is a $12 million cooperative agreement between the Office of Head Start, National Association of Sports and Physical Education, and American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation. The purpose of the project is to 1) improve play opportunities for young children, 2) educate educators, and 3) advise the federal government on early childhood development. Previously, I have worked with both Fairfax County, VA and the International Youth Conditioning Association to create programs for children, and to educate those working with kids. My overall goal is to achieve through education and legislation properly focused physical and intellectual learning environments for children.
