| Introduction | I am a 56 year old husband to a wonderful wife of 34 years, father to 2 great sons & their wives, & grandfather to 2 grandchildren. I’ve lived in Vancouver, WA since I was 6 months old and have been a Christian since 1973. My wife and I own a small manufacturing company which I ran until the end of May 2006. God willing I will be active there again soon. I am also looking forward to being back in ministry to help people get closer in their relationship to Jesus Christ and their loved ones. I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) on October 23, 2004. Talk about a wakeup call; it tested my faith and understanding of how fragile life is, and was a reality check as to what is most important for this one life I have on Earth. From October 2004 until May 2006, a drug called Gleevec kept my CML in check and life was pretty much normal. Then I got the call that my body had become resistant to Gleevec and my CML had entered a blast crisis stage. I’m currently in a drug study for a new drug called AMN 107. Hopefully it will return me to the chronic phase, and then the plan is to have a mini stem cell transplant which will permanently remove the Leukemia. |
