| Introduction | I'm your average young woman inspired to learn about the world through music and cultural exchange. For my "official" bio (whatever that means) please see below: Growing up in Chicago with a musical and multi-cultural background, Karima became impassioned to learn about the world via international artistic exchange, specifically music and media. She's spent time traveling and doing projects in Europe, North Africa, and the South Pacific Islands and is currently living near Marseille, France working as an English Language Teaching Assistant. While in college in Illinois, Karima created the position of World Music Director at WVKC 90.7 FM, Knox College’s radio station and spent 4 years producing her weekly radio show “World Kaleidoscope”, in addition to producing international concerts. She was also extremely active in cultural organizations on campus and was chosen for the Knox College Houston-Haring Award, given to the senior student most dedicated to promoting international understanding on campus. From there she’s worked with such Chicago institutions as the Old Town School of Folk Music and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs organizing events relating to world music. |
