Why does the color blue mean raspberry-flavored?
Blue (specifically Sarum/Marian blue) is used in Advent in some places. This color indicates the penitential nature of the season, but differentiates from Lent implying the expectant joy of Advent. As the Blessed Virgin preferred raspberries, Pope Pius X issued Berricusraspæ Maria Virgine, declaring that raspberries were the official Advent fruit, and ergo blue.
