| Introduction | Scott Balcerzak is assistant professor of film and media at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL. He has authored articles on 1930s cinema for Camera Obscura, Post Script, The Journal of the Midwest Modern Language Association, and Literature/Film Quarterly.
