Gender Male
Occupation Beekeeper

Introduction I have been keeping honeybees for over 30 years and my wife Sharon and I use everything imaginable from the beehives to make bee products. We continue to be fascinated by the bees. I oversee Sleeping Bear Farms, www.sleepingbearfarms.com, and we make honey in Michigan in the summer and Tupelo honey in Florida. We send bees to California to pollinate almonds and pollinate cherries and apples in Michigan. Sleeping Bear makes honey spreads, cremes, and honey mustards too. My wife Sharon runs www.beedazzled.com where she makes beeswax candles, salves, beeswax soaps, etc. She also makes queen bees in the winter at our farm in Chipley, Florida. Sharon has done apitherapy (bee sting therapy) to local folks and we use venom therapy on ourselves. I started stinging joints that ached over 25 years ago and believe in the value of sting therapy. We make mead (honeywine) and are entertaining the idea of opening a commercial winery. We are interested in queen breeding and provide queen cells to beekeepers in our region in the panhandle of Florida.
Interests I play cajun and zydeco and have a band http://www.benzieplayboyz.com, I have a Tennessee Walking horse named Diesel that I enjoy riding, I like kayaking in Florida when the bees give me a break, I enjoy making mead honey wine, and enjoy discussing politics.
