IntroductionI’m a retired teacher, a Christian (since my early teens), and an author in search of a publisher for my memoir on suicidal depression. I’m using a pseudonym because of the intensely personal nature of my book. My pen name is a play on the word "anomaly"—someone who doesn't fit in, who never quite seems to belong. That's how I've always felt. Even in Christian circles. But especially during periods of depression. For a little more info on my background and my purpose for this blog, check out my first post: “Ann O'Malley, Anomaly.” See also “More About Me” in my sidebar.
InterestsI was in college many long years ago when I met Caroline. I was conservative. Caroline was liberal. I was a Christian. Caroline was agnostic. Due to her family background, she was bitter and resentful toward my precious faith. But she was willing to listen and share. So was I. That was my first experience in developing a close friendship with someone who was so different from me in some of the most important ways. And it was incredible! There’s something about being vulnerable with someone you know could hurt you, only to discover that they fully accept you even when you disagree. (See my article “Intimacy and Honesty” from September, 2019. Sorry I can’t insert a link here.) Having a deep conversation with a friend, even when we don't agree, is at the top of my list of interests. I also enjoy learning, reading, puzzles, needlework, games, and chocolate. And traveling, which is unfortunately limited by health issues. But the next life will fulfill all my desires and longings in a way that will make any item on an earthly bucket list look trivial and boring.
Favorite booksTheology, classics (pre-1900), real-life down-to-earth books on dealing with suffering, cozy mysteries, some scifi.
