Introduction I'm a life-long Lutheran Christian. My first memories of church were using the red Service Book and Hymnal. I've grown to treasure our liturgical worship traditions. When I was in my early 50's, I studied and became an installed Lay Worship Leader in the SWPA Synod, leading non-sacramental worship at congregations in the greater Pittsburgh area that didn't have a pastor available. I also started playing guitar for contemporary music services. That's not to be confused with "contemporary worship" services. I played guitar for liturgical services that used more contemporary sounding music within the framework of the traditional Lutheran service. I moved to the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia in 2008. There wasn't the same need for laypeople to lead worship here as there was in Pittsburgh. Still, I've stayed active in my congregation. And I've remained convinced of the benefits traditional Lutheran liturgical worship.
