Fifty Two Steps Into the Universe

Introduction	John Muir said, "The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness." Well, John Muir didn't have a smartphone, and there’s a whole lot of screen-pollution blocking out the stars these days. It's a lifestyle I don't want to pass down to my soon-to-be two-year-old son. Instead of defaulting to mindless t.v, or aimless clicking, I want him to at least know that his first source for inspiration, connectivity, and yes, entertainment, can be nature. Perhaps it is really that I want to learn that lesson myself. So I intend to blog about it. That’s right, blog. Yes, I do see the irony there, but Muir had his journals, right? My challenge to myself is to seek out and embark on 52 outdoor adventures this year with my son. I don’t mean “play in the yard” while I take in the laundry, or “go swimming” at a pool party. I mean to try and let nature engage me with its wisdom (yup - I just wrote that), and maybe learn a lot while following my little boy's steps into the universe.
