Introduction	I am a mature PhD student at the University of the West of England in Bristol. Twelve years ago I suffered a migraneous stroke which left me with no sense of balance - consequently eight years ago I had a serious fall and suffered a compression fracture at L2 - this has left me in a wheelchair. Since then I have graduated with a BA Hons in History, played wheelchair tennis at National Level and achieved a world ranking.
