The quick version is that I have lived in the Philippines for just over 20 months and am a permanent resident now. I’m remarkably happy here and our home is full of happy sounds—our helper sings as she works, our pets play, my wife hums as she cooks, I watch all the news programs I would in the US, and the Internet keeps me in touch with friends and family around the world. Coincidentally, my home is in the Canyon Ranch Subdivision of Carmona, Cavite about 40km from Manila. A quick conversion; 1 km = 5/8 (.625) mile, so 40km is 25 miles. Don’t worry, after a week or two, you will be making the conversion automatically too.
