| Introduction | God is sovereign and He will not be mocked. We are creatures, owing Him allegiance and obedience. Having faltered, we are under judgment for erring against all which is right and good. In His mercy, He sent His Son to satisfy all righteousness so that He would then, Himself, be able to satisfy the penalty and wrath we accrued: kin according to the flesh, though truly God, He alone was able to quench infinite wrath and satisfy justice in full. An infinite offense requires infinite atonement. Jesus Christ is this man--truly God and truly man. And He resurrected from death, after crucifixion (evidencing the wrath on sin, as such a death). His resurrection attests that His righteous self-sacrifice was wholly sufficient and, so, death could not hold Him. Our justification is thus fully attested as complete, in Him, for all who will turn to Him seeking mercy, before entering death themselves to face God's righteous judgment alone. Turn or burn, Spurgeon said. We have that choice, by His grace and empowerment alone. Run to Christ while there's time. |
